In addition to the many physical changes at the facility, new ownership and employee empowerment has created a new attitude among the facility’s more than 100 employees. Employee teams provide input into policies, procedures, programs and major projects, leading to a number of accomplishments in production capacity, material quality and safety. The facility’s safety record has made it a model for the chemical industry and manufacturing sector in Estonia.

The offices at Velsicol Eesti are clean, modern and professional. Employees enjoy a caring work environment. Individual birthdays and employment anniversaries, for example, are celebrated by all. With a diverse workforce of Russian, Estonian, Latvian and American employees, employees work closely as a team to assure the highest standards of product quality and service are provided to customers.

That strong customer orientation is one important reason why Velsicol transferred its European Customer Service and Manufacturing office to Estonia in 2000. The plant’s record of quality customer service is impressive.

There is also a strong sense of community at Velsicol Eesti. Velsicol provides educational scholarships, makes donations to local orphanages, medical and educational facilities and has supported several major civic projects.
